I wanted to show you this little makeover job I did on this apothecary cabinet a friend no longer needed and graciously offered to me. It was the perfect size for our guest room where the current cabinet was sitting, only too wide to be able to open the closet’s bifold doors all of the way. Annoying. Super annoying. Kitchen, Renovation -

Not that I don’t work on woodworking projects on other days, but for some reason when I work on them on Sundays, my brain has titled the day “Sawdust Sunday.” Today’s Sawdust Sunday was brought to you from the kitchen, where I have been slowly renovating the room. I began late last April, taking out one section of cabinets, moving the refrigerator and building some upper cabinet and rehabbing a piece I found for the bottom. I’ve been taking out one section of cabinet uppers or lowers at a time and replacing them so that we always have a working kitchen.

I recently began making stickers for my business (you can find them on my website, on my Etsy shop, or at Urban Nest or Urban Brew in Beaufort). I have also been continuing to doodle on my iPad to relax and as a creative outlet in the evenings. I combined my doodles with the stickers last night and I have to say I was tickled pink with how these Mickey silhouettes turned out.

Home Decor, Repurposed Wood, Wood Beam -

An old, wooden pie cabinet with the tin panels, a beautiful brick building from over a hundred years ago, a tool box that proudly wears it’s scars from years of use, these are the things that I love. They are not pristine, they may have a wobble, they may have a few chips and dents, and they certainly aren’t perfect in the usual usage of the word, but to me, they are treasures. I love those dents and chips. To me, it’s character, it is the item’s history, it is someone’s story.
